Jousahn!
This week was good. I've started
coming down with a cold, as have 2 of the other sisters in my room, so
I've been sounding like a man and being rather quiet the last few days,
which is unusual for me. haha.
Earlier this week my companion had a dermatologist
appointment, so we got to go off MTC Campus! It was exciting! haha. The
van we went in actually dropped a few missionaries off in the building
literally right next to the one that the Provo CPE office is in, so it
was pretty weird! All my coworkers were just right there? It was weird.
But it was nice to get out of the MTC. And at the doctor's office I met
one of my old Freshman Mentoring boss's husbands, which was a funny
coincidence.
Today our district got the opportunity to clean the
Provo Temple! Sister Lin and I got to help dissemble, clean, and
reassemble one of the big chandeliers in the staircases, as well as in
the Temple President's dining room. It was a neat experience.
Yesterday Jenny Oaks Baker performed at our fireside!
It was really good. It was really nice because we're not allowed to
listen to our own music at the MTC because I guess they've had problems
with that in the past, so to just have a nice musical presentation was
much needed.
I starting to feel pretty antsy to get out of the MTC. I
feel like I have a decent grasp on the language. Obviously I still have
a ton to learn, but I figure whether I go now or in 3 weeks, I'll still
have no idea what's going on the first month I'm there, so I may as
well go now. But oh well. The routine is getting pretty old. But I do
really like how easy it is to feel the spirit here-- I'm pretty sure
I'll have serious culture shock getting to Hong Kong because I'm used to
being in such gospel environment now. The MTC is so weird. haha.
No new teachers this week! haha. Except the new teacher
for the other class has stopped pretending to be their investigator and
has revealed himself as their teacher, so watching their reaction to
that was pretty funny. But our teacher who just left last week sent our
district 2 dozen donuts from krispy kreme because apparently the MTC has
some service with them, so that was really nice of him! Not that that's
a plea for donuts, because I'm trying hard to lose the weight I know
I've gained since being here. Haha.
So apparently 55 new Mandarin missionaries came into
the MTC last week, which is crazy. There's one elder who keeps moving
his desk into our little Cantonese corner during language study and
talks really loudly, facing our door. I feel like I'm beginning to
understand how Hong Kong feels about the rest of Mainland. hahaha. There
are a few Mandarin elders that we're randomly friends with though, and
they're quite entertaining.
Love you family! I'm going to forward a link to a great lds.org video if I can--right now the computer's not cooperating, but you
should all watch it because it's fantastic. I love this video so much. It really shows Christ's individual love for
all of his children. I love that even though though the Atonement is so
universal, it's still so personal.
Have a great week!
