1/21/2013: Faith works. Use it.

Hi everyone!!

How's everyone doing? This week was great! So many good things happening here in Macau!

First off, we had 8 people at church on Sunday. 8!! That's a new record high for me in the mission so far. AND this week is exam week, which means a lot of the teenagers we teach have been stressing out over exams, and yet still made the time to come to church. They're awesome! And we have 10 progressing investigators! Another record! It's so amazing to me here that the hard work situations, etc, really humbles people here, while in parts of Hong Kong it really seems to harden people. Alma knew what he was talking about (see Alma 32, which I just read this morning which is why it's in my head right now). Our investigators here are so amazing. They're all so cool too.

We also had 24s this week (24-hour exchanges), so I went to international work for a day, which was really interesting. It was pretty fun too. It was a day full of miracles though-- Sister Law and I (she was in the MTC group after me) got 16 street contacts in the space of 2 hours, which might also be a record for me. Granted, Filipinas are much more willing to give out their phone numbers than Chinese people, but still! It was pretty much a record high for them too. We also had a lady STOP US to talk to us. It was so cool! She was like "Hey, stop! Can I talk to you? Can I have your phone number? I want to know more about your church!" and we were like "Is this a prank? What's going on?? Of COURSE you can have our number!" It was this lady from Mongolia who apparently went to church there a few times and met with missionaries a couple times, and has been wanting to find the church here. It really is amazing how God puts people in your path who are prepared to hear the gospel. Sister Law and I were excited about it for the rest of the day. So cool! Then Sister Cook and Sister Nelson over in Chinese work had our new golden investigator, A-Ji, call them and schedule them for that day, and she chose a baptismal date for the end of March! So cool!

We also helped a less-active family move this week that hasn't been willing to have the missionaries over in quite some time, and we got very much into the dad's good books, and now he's going to let us visit them at their new place! We hope we can help reactivate them! The daughter Hoi Keih comes to church most weeks and is really great and really wants to help her family, so we really hope we can help them.

Today our 70+ year old investigator Hahje who has her hair dyed red, and a red car and a red purse and done up fingernails all the time, who is one of the nicest people I've ever met, took us out to a buffet for lunch today that had all kinds of delicious foods that are way too expensive for missionaries to buy, like pineapple and cheese and ice cream. We probably don't need to eat dinner tonight. Haha. Last week we went to a huge old Chinese temple. I felt like I was in Mulan the whole time I was there. It was really interesting, and quite beautiful.

I hope everyone is doing well! Remember to have faith that God will answer your prayers according to your righteous desires, and he will!

Love,
Sister Heaton

P.S. The pictures are of the Buddhist temple, and us with Hoi Keih and A-Ji!
