This
week was good! And crazy! And good! Wednesday, I went to the mission's
first Mission Leadership Council as one of 6 Sister Training Leaders.
For now there is one over each zone, and though we're not 100% clear on
the details yet, we'll be conducting exchanges with all the sisters in
our zone and reporting to President or Sister Hawks on how they're
doing. Mission Leadership Council was super good. I love going to
meetings where President and Sister Hawks are pretty much teaching us
the whole time. They're so good. I feel like the sisters have been
mission out on that! It was cool to hear the things that are going on
around the entire mission, and hear ideas other zones are putting into
effect to help the work move forward-- it's a good way to get ideas for
your own work. Sister Hawks was so excited to have us there as well.
Then on Saturday we saw this girl who we've been
hoping to see for some time, who is the nonmember daughter of a divorced
mom in our ward, and the girl (Ngon Ching) comes to church every few
weeks, sometimes kind of regularly, sometimes not. So we asked her what
her feelings were towards baptism, and she said "maybe later." So I
asked "Later when?" and she said "I plan on getting baptized on my
birthday." And so we obviously asked, "When is your birthday?" and found
out it's June 14! Super soon! We were really excited! She was like "Is
there anything specific I need to do before I can get baptized?" So we
explained she needs to re-hear the lessons and that there's baptismal
interview questions that will gauge if she is ready. Hopefully she can
make that date! Easiest baptismal goal we've ever made with an
investigator. She did all the work!
We had one of our investigators in church on Sunday with her baby boy and 3-year old daughter-- it was good, but out of control! We've been sitting near the front lately because that's where investigators have the best experience and then the ward sees the investigators, but maybe next time we won't sit there. Her baby started screaming, so she asked me to run out and get water for the baby's bottle, which I did twice, because I went out for a second time for the little girl's bottle. I spent most of sacrament meeting entertaining the baby so he wouldn't scream, and the little girl chugged the bottle. Unfortunately, she spit it all up about 5 minutes later all over the chapel floor. So we grabbed all the tissues all of us had and cleaned up what we could in the last 10 minutes of the meeting. Suffice it to say, I didn't hear most of the testimonies. So we had 2 investigators in sacrament meeting, 2 new LAs there, 2 potentials, and then in Sunday school had 3 more investigators and a LA come, so by relief society we had about 8 people following us around-- the Bishop and Relief Society President both were like "Wow! You two are so busy today! So many investigators!" It was cool, because I think a lot more of the ward members are trusting us more and more now, especially with such a high turn-out at church. We were obviously pretty excited to get so many less-actives and investigators out, especially the less-actives we've been working with for quite some time and have devoted a lot of love and time to. Yay! I love when people repent!
Look forward to talking to you all next week! Our
P-day will probably be on Wednesday, because we'll probably be going to
the temple, which means none of you get out of writing me letters! :)
Love you!
Sister Heaton
