Summer seems to have finally arrived, and
with a bang too. It's been floating above 30 degrees (Celsius) for the
last week, which is somewhere in the high 80s- low 90s. It's only May!!
And it's super wet. Most of the time when I think I'm sweating I might
actually just be wet, just from how fast I am so wet, like faster than
it's probably possible for my body to make sweat. It's been pretty
oppressive. I've considered on several occasions chopping my hair off.
We'll see. I'm very grateful the church has A/C. I'm suddenly feeling
the urgent need to acquire more light, only-need-one-layer tops to keep
me from dying. Haha. I'm not ready!! I'd forgotten how hot it gets. And
this is only the beginning. Alas. If I can survive till Daniel's 16th
birthday (Scary!), I'll be in the clear.
I made the mistake of praying for diligence this
week, not once, but twice! What was I thinking. That meant 2 days of all
our investigators cancelling on us and doing a lot of finding. You
think I would've learned after the first time. Haha. It's ok though, I
know it'll turn out for our good. I think it already has-- we've had
some good member referrals and a really awesome mom contact this week.
We started telling this lady about eternal families, and her reaction
was perfect-- she got quiet and was like "really? Is that really true?
I'll actually be able to see those people who have passed away?" It was
really refreshing to see someone get it so clearly! We scheduled her for
this coming Saturday, so hopefully that will go well! We also met a
newly married couple that just moved to the area, and the wife doesn't
know very many people, so when we met them, her husband was like "Yeah!
Go to church! Go to activities! Give them your phone number!" It was
awesome. Then we ran into them again while we were finding, and they
looked so happy to see us, and the husband offered us the ice cream
sundae he had just bought at McDonald's. We didn't take it, obviously,
but are super excited to see a husband so on board for getting his wife
to church! Haha. Sister Pearl said they're already halfway to being
members, what with feeling the need to feed the missionaries. Haha. I
hope so!
This week Elder Andersen comes! SO EXCITED!
And I heard Shelley went into the MTC this week! There's another Sister Heaton now! Awesome!
Love you all! Ga Yau!
