This week was good! We had a lot of
finding, but we've had some good progress with some of our
investigators! One, whose name is Fornia, who we've ran into on 2
different occasions in parks, started coming to our church activities
this week, English Class and Sports Night, and loves it because she's
super free and is looking for stuff to do all the time and people to be
friends with! Perfect! Before we started teaching her about the
Restoration, she asked us if she could have a Book of Mormon, and she
really got everything really well. After we told her that God is the
Father of our Spirits, she was like "OH! So when we disobey Him we're
unhappy, and the more we follow Him the happier we'll be! That's why so
many people in Hong Kong aren't happy!" It was so cool. She was having
all kinds of insights that we didn't really have much to do with. At the
end of the lesson she was like "There's another book of scripture! I
didn't know the Book of Mormon existed before I met you! That's why you
guys need to be here! To tell us!" She's awesome. And she told us she
liked our church more than other churches because it's less pushy. Even
though we have missionaries, and are always trying to get her to commit
to do things. Go figure! As long as she doesn't feel uncomfortable,
that's great!
Also, our miracle find of Wong Siuje last week is
staying awesome! We taught her again this week, and taught her the plan
of salvation. We were explaining how we have to be baptized to return to
live with God again, and how baptism is such a great gift because it
cleanses us of our sins and gives us spiritual power if we're following
God's commandments, and she was like "That's why baptism is so amazing!
Thanks Heavenly Father!" She said she'd be willing to be baptized before
I even got the invitation completely out of my mouth. She's awesome!
She's scheduled for May 19 to get baptized.
Also, I was going to play an April Fools trick on
you all, but I don't have time to write it all out because it's almost
been an hour, so just know that I was planning on telling you all that
Mainland is starting a pilot-allowance of the church into parts of
Guandong, and that I and my new trainee would be going up there this
Thursday to open the first area in Mainland. But alas, no time. Also,
President Hawks doesn't want us to rumor-monger about China opening. I
guess I won't rumor-monger. Also, everyone in our apartment has yet to
hear about training, but as 3 of us are among the 7 sisters who've been
out for the longest time, we figure a call should be coming anytime. We
actually have 14 new sisters coming in, not 18 like previously said,
though I guess some came in partway through the move or something. Plus a
couple are from the Philippines, which means they'll have Filipina
trainers, which means maybe 2 sisters won't have to train! Although we
have sisters being trained right now too, so maybe they all will anyway.
We'll see!
A quick cool Easter insight-- in reading the Easter
story in all 4 gospels in the Bible yesterday, I discovered the last
thing the Resurrected Lord says to his disciples is to go forth
preaching repentance and baptizing the nations. Something for all
followers of Christ to think about!
Love you all!
