10/14/2013: In case you were worried about me dying an old maid...

Hi family!

So this week was a great one! General Conference was SO GREAT! Exclamation point! So much about missionary work. So good. After conference on Sunday, we also had 2 miracles lessons! The first one was a member referral pass-over from another ward (which, ps, rarely happens for us--usually we're finding people who work in our area but live in other areas, so we're passing over to others) who lives 2 blocks from the church. Her name is Hayley, and she's been trying to find the right church for years! She was so cool, and humble, and is an honest seeker of truth, and laid back and funny-- I see the beginning of a beautiful friendship! She's already pals with the fellowshipper we got for her (Annie Wong-- so powerful!), and she's coming to the Saturday evening session of stake conference this coming week, since Annie will be speaking. How many members don't go to that session, and our investigator is going? Yes! AND she said she's pretty free as long as she doesn't have to go to work! Hallelujah! This area everyone is so busy all the time! We found a Mandarin family yesterday (another one! Yay!), and the husband told me that he thought living in New York was busy, but Hong Kong is busier. So yeah. Pretty busy. Anyway, I'm super excited about her. She met the bishop too! Most productive church tour after conference ever. Then Sister Aliaga taught 2 of the RCs in our ward, Rainbow and Cartis, who are 11 and 12, and their mom came to conference with them! Yay! She's not a member! And their LA dad came too! So she all of a sudden went from teaching 2 little girls to teaching a family! Nice! And they're looking for someone to help Cartis with Spanish, which is just right since Sister Aliaga was born in Peru! So many miracles! Then after conference we went finding and were led in a really weird path to this super cute, great girl who wants to learn more! Yay! Good week!

Sister Aliaga is awesome, by the way! Love her already!

And in case you're wondering about the subject line, hahahaha. Don't worry about me not getting married, because there's a boy here ready to marry me right now. So the other day we're taking the streetcar to another part of our area, and I'm talking to the man sitting next to me, but then he leaves, so when I look up, I see that there's this big kid with Down's Syndrome standing right in front of me. He then looks at me and says "I like you. I like you." I offer him a seat, since having him stand right there made me kind of uncomfortable. So he sits down and keeps telling me he likes me, so I ask him how old he is, and he says 17, and he asks me how old I am, and I tell him 5 years older than him. Then he's like "Let's get married! Let's get married!" and I pretended I didn't understand what he said for a bit, but that didn't really work, so I told him "you need to graduate from high school before you can get married! Sorry!" And he says "No, it's ok! I have a big comfortable home with my parents, you can come and live with us there! I have $100! (Which in American money is like, $13) I'll work hard for you!" And I was like "You're not legally allowed to get married, and I'm a missionary, so sorry I can't!" And he keeps insisting "Marry me! Marry me! Don't make me get down on one knee!" (This is all in Chinese, by the way) So I'm just laughing and looking at Sister Aliaga across the way since I don't want to laugh in his face, but it was pretty hilarious. Then he was like "You don't need to cry. Is it touching for you to have me propose to you? Is it touching? Is it touching?" And I'm just doing all I can not to laugh in his face at this point for how ridiculous this situation is, as I say "No, it's not," and then he leaps down to one knee and is like "Marry me faster! Marry me! Marry me!" At that point I went and sat between Sister Aliaga and the lady next to her, and he kept trying to get my attention by calling me his wife and his girlfriend, and he serenaded me with love songs as I left the street car. I was mostly grateful just that he didn't follow me. But it was pretty hilarious. Never a dull moment here! So no worries everyone, I've got someone waiting for me here. Haha.

Anyway, out of time! Love you all!
Sister Heaton
