So before I forget, I must say that I saw
probably the funniest shirt I've ever seen in Hong Kong this week. It
said "Your mum is so fat, her patronus is CAKE." I about died laughing.
Especially because the shirt was otherwise a really cute-sy one-- red
and white stripes, and the writing had a lacey border around it. And a
mom was wearing it. She refused to talk to me, but I told her her shirt
was hilarious anyway. I'm pretty sure she had no idea what it said.
Also Dad, you can pass along my companion's
compliments to Uncle Richard-- she told me she thinks that someone
should make a documentary of the MTC for how well it's run and how
everything is so perfectly timed, especially considering the explosion
of missionaries there. And I said, "Hey! That's my uncle's job! Way to
represent!"
Anyway, this week was good. On Ching came to church
again! 2 weeks in a row!! Finally! She also told one of the young
women's leaders that she really wants to get baptized, and is planning
on getting baptized in July! Yay! If she keeps up this coming to church
thing, she can!
We also went door-knocking again this week, because I
get bored of street contacting, so we went out to some of the more
jungley parts of our area, including a few villages that face out on a
bay-- it was gorgeous! Unfortunately, Sister Palmer kind of got eaten
alive. I felt kind of bad for her.
We had a zone conference this week, and one of the Asia Area Presidency came, Elder Wong, who is hilarious-- he quickly flashed us a map of the planned 9 stakes in Hong Kong in 10 years-- that's 5 more than there is now! Awesome! He was like "Don't tell anyone about it. And if you do, don't tell them I told you." Oops, I guess I just did. Oh well. I think he just meant not to tell other missionaries. Then he flashed us another map of the planned 6 stakes in Hong Kong in 18 months, then said "You know we're serious about this one-- the map is bigger." haha. He shared some really good insights on bringing people to Christ. He talked about the man by the pool of Bethesda who had been there 38 years and unable to be healed because no one would help him, until Jesus healed him. He then talked about the story in Mark 2 where the man of the palsy is lowered on his bed into the house where Jesus is by 4 people, and he talked about who these 4 people were-- how it could be an elder's quorum president, a home teacher, a bishopric member, a missionary, a relief society president, that person's brother or sister, mother or father. It was cool. Then he talked about how they would have to be very careful to lift him onto the roof, and make sure they lower him slowly and together into the house, because if one person was too eager and too fast (like often the missionary), then the man would fall. And that man was able to be healed because he had people helping him. Just food for thought!
Love you all!
Sister Heaton
