Good news! On Ching is getting baptized
this Saturday! WOO!!! She already had her interview with the bishop, and
we went through the interview questions, and she's totally ready! She
just needs to pass her interview with the district leader on Wednesday,
and she's good to go! It's amazing how much of a change she's made just
in the last month. Before she wanted to get baptized, but kept getting
afraid and kept wanting to push back her baptismal date. But I tell you
what, ever since we started the Book of Mormon with her (because she'd
read like one verse a week and say a couple of prayers a week) only one
time, she's been on fire for the Book of Mormon, and has progressed like
crazy! She's already read to 2 Nephi in 3 weeks! Yeah! And she seems so
much more certain and sure and happy about her upcoming baptism! Yay!
She'll then get confirmed on Sunday! So excited!
Other than that, we've been doing quite a bit of
finding this week, and have had quite a few people cancel on us. But
that's ok, because we're seeing a baptism! Our investigators seem to
have disappeared lately, not answering phones, etc, and all our awesome
potential new investigators seem to have complete 180 changes from
between the first time we contact them and they are really excited to
when we call them again. It's been quite challenging, actually. But we
will carry on!
This week we had lunch with this hilarious 70-year
old lady in our ward (Sister Mong) and another family in the ward, and
for the first part it was just her and the 18-year old daughter in the
other family (A-Yan). Then Sister Mong started making fun of A-Yan
because she looks like she's 16, and out of nowhere she starts singing
"You are 16, going to the 17!" I about died laughing. The shock of her
knowing that song mixed with the hilarity of the Chinese change of the
lyrics was too much for me. Good times!
Also, Alien Tam, the super awesome investigator we
just passed over to Kwun Tong who just really wants to get baptized,
bought us all these cheetah-print poofy pants and matching tanktops.
They are pretty awesome/hilarious. She's probably the coolest person
I've ever met. Hahaha. And she bought them for 10 RMB in Mainland, which
equates to probably about $1 American. Awesome!
